WebM to MP4 Converter
Turn web-first WebM files into mainstream MP4 video. Built for OBS recordings, Loom walkthroughs, YouTube downloads, browser captures, and files with VP8, VP9, or AV1 video.
Drag & Drop Your Video

WebM is excellent for websites and open media workflows, but it is still awkward outside the browser. IPhones and iPads do not handle WebM well, many smart TVs ignore it, some editors reject it, and clients often expect MP4. If a WebM works in Chrome but fails everywhere else, converting it to MP4 is usually the practical fix.
This converter reads WebM sources with VP8, VP9, or AV1 video and exports H.264 MP4 with AAC audio. It is useful for OBS screen captures, Loom presentations, online meeting exports, downloaded web videos, and browser recordings that need to be sent to someone using a phone, TV, LMS, or editing app.
WebM to MP4 often requires a real re-encode, especially when the source uses VP9 or AV1, so conversion time depends on video length, resolution, and CPU speed. Trim first when you only need a clip. Keep original resolution for text-heavy screen recordings, and downscale when the target is messaging or quick review.
Why Use Our WebM to MP4 Converter
Universal Device Compatibility
WebM won't play on iPhones, iPads, most smart TVs, or gaming consoles. MP4 (H.264) plays on absolutely everything. Every smartphone, tablet, computer, smart TV, and streaming device ever made.
Supports All WebM Codecs
Handles VP8, VP9, and AV1 video. Whatever codec your WebM uses, the tool decodes it correctly and re-encodes to universally compatible H.264. No format is too new or too old.
Perfect for OBS & Loom Recordings
OBS Studio and Loom output WebM by default. Convert your screen recordings, tutorials, and presentations to MP4 for editing in any video editor and sharing with anyone.
Video Editor Compatibility
DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and most editing software have limited WebM support. Converting to MP4 gives you a file that imports seamlessly into any editing workflow.
Optional Video Trimming
Extract just the portion you need with timecode-based trimming. Turn a long screen recording into a short tutorial clip without editing software.
100% Private & Local Processing
WebAssembly runs FFmpeg entirely in your browser. Your WebM videos. Whether work presentations, private recordings, or downloaded content. Stay on your device throughout the entire conversion.

Who Should Use This Tool
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I play WebM files on my iPhone or iPad?
Apple's iOS and iPadOS do not support the WebM format at all. Neither the VP8/VP9 video codecs nor the WebM container. Converting to MP4 (H.264) makes your videos playable on all Apple devices natively through the Photos app or any video player.
Will converting WebM to MP4 reduce video quality?
Any re-encoding involves some quality change, but at the default quality setting the difference is imperceptible for most content. The tool uses H.264 with CRF 23 (the standard for high-quality web video), which balances quality and file size excellently.
What WebM codecs are supported?
All WebM codecs: VP8 (older standard), VP9 (current standard, used by YouTube), and AV1 (newer, more efficient). The audio codecs Vorbis and Opus are both fully supported. If FFmpeg can decode it, our tool can convert it.
Can I use this for OBS Studio recordings?
Absolutely. OBS Studio outputs WebM by default with VP8/VP9 video and Vorbis/Opus audio. This converter is the perfect companion tool. Convert your OBS recordings to MP4 for editing in any video editor or sharing with anyone.
How long does WebM to MP4 conversion take?
Processing time depends on video duration, resolution, and your device's CPU. A 5-minute 1080p WebM typically converts in 15â45 seconds. Since processing is local, faster CPUs produce faster conversions.
Does MP4 support transparency like WebM?
Standard MP4 (H.264) does not support transparency/alpha channel. If your WebM has transparent areas (common in motion graphics and overlays), those areas will render as black or a solid color in the MP4 output.
Will the file size change after conversion?
File size may increase or decrease depending on the source codec and quality. VP9 WebM files are typically very compact. Converting to H.264 MP4 at default quality may produce a slightly larger file. You can adjust the quality setting for smaller output if file size is a priority.
Can I batch convert multiple WebM files?
The tool processes one file at a time. However, since everything runs locally, you can immediately start the next conversion as soon as the current one finishes. No server queue to wait behind.
